This grade 2 position is based in the community therapy service with a focus on patients with neurological conditions at The Royal Melbourne Hospital royal park campus.
Your Opportunity:
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic and friendly team.
Supported by a multidisciplinary team, this role is responsible for the delivery of efficient and evidence based occupational therapy interventions in the community (centre and home based) setting. Continuing professional development opportunities are offered within the occupational therapy department. This role is supported by the CTS team and broader occupational therapy department and will have direct supervisory requirements of a rotating grade 1 clinician.
- Undertake assessment, intervention and discharge planning for patients with neurological conditions
- Supervision and education of junior occupational therapists
- Ensure excellence in patient management
- Provide evidenced based assessment and management of a wide variety of patients
- Contribute to providing high quality patient information
- Build relationships with patients, relatives, staff and relevant services in order to provide appropriate services and information
- Demonstrate effective communication strategies within a multi-disciplinary team
- Practice person centred care and contribute to decision making with patients and carers
- Participate in the staff clinical supervision programme
The portfolio and supervision structures within the occupational therapy department will also provide opportunities for the successful applicant to participate in clinical governance activities, including quality and research projects.
About You:
The successful applicant will be committed to an interdisciplinary approach and have a well-developed understanding of health and occupational performance issues for clients who have experienced neurological related issues.
- Recognised degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
- Professional registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia
- Competent level of patient assessment, treatment and management in a community care setting
- Effective verbal, non-verbal and written communication
- Emergency and safe working practices in the hospital
