Laboratory Scientist

The Microbiology service supports patient care at the Royal Melbourne Hospital City Campus, Royal Park Campus and the Melbourne Private Hospital. The Microbiology Department provides a range of specialist diagnostic tests within the different disciplines of microbiology including:
- Bacteriology
- Infectious disease serology
- Molecular microbiology
- Mycobacteriology
- Mycology
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated individual to join our Microbiology team. This is a Full Time permanent Grade 3 Scientist position, working 80 hours per fortnight, based in Microbiology at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. You would be involved in the daily supervision and management of staff in all areas of microbiology.
Your Opportunity
- Supervise and manage teams in a busy Microbiology Department
- Provide leadership to staff
- Involved in the review and update of laboratory protocols and procedures and laboratory quality control.
About You
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent with appropriate specialisation in diagnostic microbiology
- At least 8 years of experience in a diagnostic microbiology laboratory.
- Supervisory and management experience including demonstrated leadership skills, ability to work independently.
- Specialist knowledge of diagnostic microbiology and infectious diseases serology.
- Eligible working rights for Australia and New Zealand
