Life With Us:

The Broadmeadows Acute Adult Inpatient Unit at North West Area Mental Health Service comprises of a diverse group of multi-disciplinary clinicians who work within an integrated mode of care. We value discipline-specific contributions in treatment and recovery pathways for consumers of our service. The clinical nurse educator will support the nursing staff in their professional education, training and supervision.

 

A Job To Be Proud Of:

This position will help train and develop our nursing workforce in achieving contemporary evidence-based nursing practice within an acute inpatient setting:

  • Provide professional support education, training and supervision to inpatient psychiatric nursing staff
  • Monitor and advise on standards of psychiatric nursing practice within an inpatient unit and develop strategies to meet identified needs

  • Identify models of best practice in psychiatric inpatient nursing and assist in their implementation 
  • Facilitate preceptorship of student nurses, graduate and post graduate nurses on the inpatient unit
  • Participate in the development and implementation of a professional psychiatric nursing development program for the inpatient unit

Your Commitment:

  • Relevant clinical qualification, and demonstrated skills in the principles and practice of working with people presenting with mental health issues
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with consumers, families/carers, colleagues and other service providers
  • Knowledge of relevant evidence-based treatment models and interventions for high and low prevalence psychiatric illnesses
