The Royal Melbourne is one of Victoria’s largest hospitals providing a comprehensive range of health services including acute, sub-acute, general, and specialist medical services throughout inpatient and community based facilities. We are also a proud part of the world renowned Melbourne Biomedical Precinct, working in collaboration to advance research for continuous improvement of clinical care.

It provides general and specialist services and offers an exciting opportunity to further your specialty nursing skills through Post Graduate study.

We build teams that embrace our values – caring, excellence, integrity, respect, and unity.

Applications are now open for the Cardiac Care Graduate Certificate in Clinical Nursing. The Graduate Certificate in Clinical Nursing is conducted in collaboration with our affiliate university, Australian Catholic University (ACU). This course is open to Registered Nurses who have successfully completed a Graduate Nurse Program.

 About the Program:

The course consists of four (4) subjects specific to the area of study undertaken. Subjects are delivered through a variety of teaching modalities, including lectures, tutorials, clinical simulation, online learning and worksheets. Assessment consists of assignments, clinical practice portfolios and reflective practice.

You will be working within an exciting and innovative interdisciplinary coronary care unit team, caring for a wide range of patients with complex cardiac conditions. You will learn advanced life support and gain advanced assessment skills as well as complete competencies to care for patients with temporary pacing, intra-aortic balloon pumps, haemodynamic monitoring and non-invasive ventilation.

Program length varies, however if you enter the program as a Grade Two Year Two Registered Nurse, the program must be completed over two years.

Applications should include a cover letter addressed to the Post Graduate Nursing Program Coordinator, clearly stating the stream being applied for, a curriculum vitae, your most recent academic transcript, and the contact details of two clinical referees. All applications will be assessed on letter of application, curriculum vitae, academic record, clinical experience, references and interview.
