Forming part of the Orygen Specialist Program (OSP), a program of The Royal Melbourne Hospital, the Custodial Forensic Youth Mental Health Service (FYMHS) team provides specialist youth mental health care in custodial settings (Parkville and Cherry Creek sites) to young people and their families/carers.

 

Your new role

 

Join us in a newly created specialist role supporting with the expansion of the specialist Neurodevelopmental Disorders (NDD) team within Custodial FYMHS, comprising of Speech Pathology, Neuropsychology and Occupational Therapy. 

 

In this role, you will:

  • Provide leadership regarding OT assessment and consultation to young people in youth justice custody, including appropriate discharge planning, care team liaison and age-appropriate referrals to support their transition back into the community
  • Work collaboratively and feel very supported by our experienced and skilled clinical & medical staff 
  • Engage with our key-stakeholders from youth justice (YJ) and other service providers (Primary Health and Youth Offending Programs)
  • Be based across Parkville & Cherry Creek Youth Justice Precincts. As such, travel to the workplace destination can be included within the working hours.

About You:

  • Relevant OT registration and qualifications (see position description for details)
  • Comprehensive experience in the application of clinical practice, particularly in youth mental health
  • Knowledge of the youth justice and/or criminal justice system and other relevant settings is desirable.
