About the Role:

A unique role exists through funding from the Department of Health and Human Services to review and refresh the Melbourne Health Aboriginal Employment Plan. We are seeking someone with enthusiasm and experience to join our team and support Melbourne Health to enhance opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees, students and candidates.

The successful candidate:
In enhancing opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees, students and candidates, your role is to initially refresh our current Aboriginal Employment Plan and make a significant contribution towards the implementation through:

• Developing tools and initiatives to increase awareness and influence a culturally responsive work environment towards Australian Indigenous employees, students, candidates and their needs;

• Reviewing the current recruitment process and tools, identify opportunities for increasing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment and work with colleagues to implement the changes;

• Developing and increasing recruitment and retention of competent employees within Melbourne Health with an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) background;

• Support existing programs such as work placement and help implement new programs such as traineeships and mentoring.

Essential:
• Ability to make sound recommendations and experience in developing and implementing tools and initiatives to enhance recruitment and retention of Indigenous Australians in the workplace.
