The Royal Melbourne is one of Victoria’s largest hospitals providing a comprehensive range of health services including acute, sub-acute, general, and specialist medical services throughout inpatient and community based facilities. We are also a proud part of the world renowned Melbourne Biomedical Precinct, working in collaboration to advance research for continuous improvement of clinical care.

 

We are looking for passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Microbiology team. This is a Full Time Fixed Term 12 month Grade 1/2 Scientist position working in the Microbiology Department.

 

 

Your Opportunity:

  • Participation in weekend, evening and night shifts
  • Work in all areas of the microbiology department including bacteriology, serology and molecular biology
  • Manage risk and actively work toward implementing risk reduction strategies.
  • Participate in laboratory presentations within the Microbiology Department.

About You:

  • Experience in a clinical diagnostic Microbiology Laboratory
  • Recognised scientific training and competence relevant to the position including appropriate knowledge and experience in quality systems, information technology and relevant
  • Analytical methods and techniques of diagnostic microbiology
  • Professional approach to patient care, confidentiality and efficient provision of pathology services 
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Proven ability to work cooperatively with pathologists, clinicians and senior scientists

Selection Criteria Essential: Bachelor of Applied Science or equivalent
Essential: Must be a permanent resident or have a VISA to work in Australia.
Desirable: Experience in Diagnostic Microbiology
Desirable: Experience in Molecular Microbiology techniques.
