Urology Fellow  2017

Summary

  • The Urology Department offers specialised clinical services for all adult urological disorders including cancers, stone disease and incontinence.

 

  • The unit is actively involved with both clinical and basic scientific research. It provides excellent training opportunities for Urologists and all staff under the Director of Urology.

 

As a member of the Urology Unit  and Clinical Business Unit at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, the fellow will be involved in both clinical and research activities.

 

All fellows work will be under the direct supervision of the Head of Unit or the supervision of a nominated staff urologist at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. 

Fellows will be extensively involved and trained in laparoscopic and robotic surgery as our fellowship program specialises in these areas.

 

Clinical activities with the Urology Department include:

 

  • Ward rounds
  • Attendance at Outpatient clinics, including specialist clinics, at the Royal Melbourne Hospital
  • Assessment of emergency patients
  • Assessment of elective patients for surgery
  • Assessment of clinical trial patients
  • Attendance in the RMH operating theatre to perform operative surgery

 

 

Educational activities with the Department of Urology include:

 

  • Weekly uro-radiology meeting
  • Weekly uro-pathology meetings
  • Weekly urological seminar meetings
  • Monthly urology research activity meetings
  • Monthly surgical forums
  • Participation in clinical research projects
  • Manuscript preparation and publication
