The Centre for Mental Health Learning (CMHL) is the central agency for public mental health workforce development in Victoria. Our vision is to be the centrepiece for mental health learning in Victoria; leading and driving innovation that strengthens and sustains a flexible, curious, knowledgeable and recovery-focused workforce.


The CMHL facilitates the sharing of skills and knowledge, with mental health workers at every stage of their career having the opportunity to grow their leadership capabilities.


We identify and promote mental health learning and development resources across Victoria, allowing the sector to reduce duplication and promote high quality practice within a culture of information sharing. 


A Job To Be Proud Of:

This role will support the development of the mental health lived experience workforce in Victoria, this may involve the development of practice tools and guidelines, learning and development resources, and professional development for lived-experience workers and the broader mental health workforce.

  • Identify lived experience workforce development needs
  • Support and provide leadership in the implementation of the consumer workforce strategy for Victoria
  • In partnership with the CMHL Family/Carer Workforce Development Coordinator, support, maintain and coordinate face-to-face and online communities of practice related to lived experience workforce and contribute to other lived experience workforce communications as needed

The role will also assist and support the Director and CMHL team in the establishment and delivery of the CMHL, as it relates to achieving project deliverables.

Your Contribution: 

  • A minimum of diploma level in health, welfare, community development, and/or adult education (or equivalent experience)
  • Lived experience of a diagnosis of mental illness
  • Experience working in a dedicated lived experience role (e.g. consumer consultant, consumer peer worker, consumer educator)

Desirable:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or equivalent
  • Knowledge about peer work frameworks such as Intentional Peer Support
  • Research skills
  • Report writing skills
