Director of Surgical Strategy and Partnerships

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Surgical Strategy and Partnerships is a key leadership role responsible for the development and execution of a new multi-year strategic plan for Surgical Services at The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH).  

Engaging with both internal and external stakeholders and health service partnerships, this role will inject strategic and innovative thinking to develop a clear and compelling strategy that will ensure the surgical program at RMH not only excels in its management of both planned and emergency surgery but that it is also placed in a favourable position in readiness for our new RMH campus at Arden in 2030. 

The Director of Surgical Strategy and Partnerships will also be responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of current and future strategic projects sponsored by surgical services and will provide leadership and mentorship to Surgical Heads of Unit to set annual department level Quality and Operational Business Improvement Plans all while cultivating and advancing a high-performing team. 

In addition to the development of the surgical strategy, the Director of Strategy and Health Service Partnerships will also play a key role managing, growing and creating value from the Royal Melbourne Hospitals existing Health Service Partnerships, at the same time identifying and evaluating new commercial partnering opportunities.
