Graduate certificate in Clinical Nursing: Renal stream  

The Royal Melbourne Hospital renal service is the largest comprehensive renal service in Victoria and is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to further your specialty nursing skills through Post Graduate study. We provide an integrated renal disease, dialysis and transplant service with a strong commitment to improvement through research and innovation. The renal service incorporates the renal ward, inpatient dialysis, home dialysis (based at the Royal Park Campus), 2 metropolitan and 23 rural and regional satellite haemodialysis units, transplant and outpatient services. We are the largest Victorian transplanting service – last year transplanting 150+ patients from other Victorian renal services and Tasmania. We are also hosting the National Paired Kidney Exchange program at RMH.

 

We have an innovative and dynamic nursing workforce, with 6 renal Nurse Practitioners (NP) or NP Candidates and many other senior and expert roles across our service. With our expanding service and the variety of nursing opportunities this presents, there is no better time to join our service to further your career in renal nursing. Our post graduate course offers you experience across the full breadth of our service and is a springboard into the many specialised facets of renal care.

Applications are now open for the Renal Graduate Certificate in Clinical Nursing program. The Graduate Certificate in Clinical Nursing is conducted in collaboration with our affiliate university, Australian Catholic University. This course is open to Registered Nurses who have successfully completed a minimum of two years acute nursing experience.

The course consists of four (4) subjects specific to the area of study undertaken. All four subjects are delivered online and supplemented by a variety of teaching modalities, including lectures, tutorials and clinical hurdles. Assessment consists of assignments and clinical practice portfolios.

 

Applications should include a cover letter addressed to the Post Graduate Nursing Program Coordinator, clearly stating the stream being applied for, a curriculum vitae and the contact details of two clinical referees. All applications will be assessed on letter of application, curriculum vitae, clinical experience, references and interview.
