Social Worker (SW2) - Northern Psychiatry Unit

  • Busy and highly energetic team catering for consumers from the Cities of Darebin and Whittlesea
  • Join our Northern Psychiatry Unit at The Northern Hospital, Epping
  • Ongoing full-time position may include some weekend work

  • Work collaboratively with other members of the multidisciplinary team, to provide social work specific services, to consumers and their families/ carers.

Your new role

  • Take reasonable care for your safety and wellbeing and that of others,
  • Work in your scope of practice and seek help where required.
  • Work in partnership with consumers, patients and where applicable careers and families.
  • Provide specialist consultations, assessments and evidence based social work interventions to assist in better outcomes for consumers and carers.

About You:

  • Provide specialist consultations, assessments and evidence based social work interventions to assist in better outcomes for consumers and carers
  • Have well-developed clinical expertise and proven experience in either hospital or mental health settings
  • Independent practice and initiative, particularly in prioritising within an acute inpatient setting, with the capacity to seek supervision and guidance when required
  • The capacity to support the multidisciplinary team in Family/Carer/FaPMI sensitive practice and in particular NPU Keeping in Touch with Your Children Menu
  • Support discharge planning and be a key point of liaison between the Inpatient Unit and community treating team
