Fractional and Full-time Psychiatrists at Orygen

Position A:

Consultant Psychiatrist – Orygen RMH Mental Health Services – 42hpfn ongoing from now

 

Position B:

Consultant Psychiatrist – Orygen RMH Mental Health Services – 28hpfn ongoing from 03 July 2024

 

Position C:

Consultant Psychiatrist – Orygen YPARC - Psychiatrist – 28hpfn ongoing from now

 

Position D:

Consultant Psychiatrist –Orygen Consultant Psychiatrist – Keep Embracing Your Success (KEYS) residential care program – 14hpfn from now – June 2026

 

 

Your new role

We have new vacancies in the service as a result of new funding to implement the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System.

  • Be involved with a rapidly expanding service, where primary and specialist care will be integrated in a single, pioneering service that is recognised internationally for excellence in youth mental health.
  • Enjoy the research and translation culture of Orygen, a world-leading Translational Medical Research Institute.

We have a number of consultant vacancies in Acute and Sub-acute community services (Youth Access Team and HOPE), Bed-based services (Inpatient Unit, Hospital in the Home and YPARC), and existing Community Teams (Early Psychosis, Personality Disorders, Mood Disorders), as well as Forensic Youth Mental Health Service (FYMHS), and headspace centres, implementing cutting edge clinical programs and clinical research.

 

Flexible EFT is available across several locations.

 

Some of the positions available represent unique opportunities to provide leadership to new or existing teams and streams of care. These are as follows:

You are passionate, energetic and determined to make a difference to the mental health outcomes of young people.

In addition, you bring:

  • Previous experience in youth mental health.
  • A proven ability to lead a multidisciplinary team: manage staff resources and ensure high standards of practice through staff supervision, clinical review, training and professional development activities.
  • Striving for the highest level of youth-focused care at all times.
  • Ability to problem solve in a complex and ever-changing environment.
  • A commitment to evidence-informed practice.

Selection Criteria Desirable: Registration as a medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
Desirable: Fellowship of the Royal Australian and new Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent
Desirable: Ability to demonstrate knowledge and experience in all aspects of psychiatry, and with substantial experience and expertise in clinical practice with young people (aged 12-25 years) experiencing mental disorders
