The Royal Melbourne Hospital seeks a suitably qualified consultant for a part time role in the Acute Medical Unit.
The unit has a roster of consultants on allocation to aid the unit by covering annual, conference and study leave. Suitably qualified consultants with recognition of or an interest in acute medicine, FRACP or FACEM, bedside ultrasound skills and an interest in perioperative care are invited to apply.
The Acute Medical Unit serves as a 3 day unit for acute general medical type inpatients. The unit's consultants also act as primary liaison with the emergency department to rapidly sort referrals into long (>3 days), short (</=3 days), suitable for discharge from the emergency department or admission to a different inpatient unit. As a consequence the consultants work a rota with extended hours to 2000 and on weekends.
