We are looking for passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Allied Health team. This is a Part Time Fixed Term position, working 48 hours per fortnight.  RMH Hand Therapy is based at predominantly at the city campus and provides assessment and intervention for a variety of conditions with a major focus on trauma. The service works closely with medical and surgical units including plastics, orthopaedics and pain services.

Your Opportunity:

An opportunity exists for a grade 3 Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist to join the existing hand therapy team at Royal Melbourne Hospital. This role is part time fixed term (until July 2020) and will have a primary focus on the provision of clinical care. You may also be required to provide clinical leadership to the staff within the program as well as supervision. The role is supported by grade 4 clinical staff, OT research leader, OT workforce manager and the OT manager.

  • Supervision and education of junior occupational therapists and allied health assistants
  • Ensure excellent, evidence based and patient centred care including assessment, intervention and splint fabrication
  • Build relationships with patients, relatives, staff and relevant services in order to provide appropriate services and information
  • Demonstrate effective communication strategies within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Participate in the staff clinical supervision program
  • Participate and drive research within the hand therapy program

About You:

  • Recognised degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy / Physiotherapy
  • Professional registration with the relevant board of Australia
  • Effective verbal, non-verbal and written communication
  • Emergency and safe working practices in the hospital
  • Time management and prioritisation skills
