Senior Mental Health Clinician

RPN4; OT3; SW3; P3

Permanent, full-time rostered

Your new team

  • Develop mental health treatment, management and risk assessment plans within the ED/PARC/MHaP and organise ongoing assistance before the client is discharged.
  • Facilitate and encourage continuity of care processes between adult psychiatric inpatient/community, youth, aged care services the emergency department, PARC and Police.
  • Provide ongoing assessment, psychosocial interventions for clients
  • Collaboratively provide education regarding the management of medication.
  • Provide an enhanced Police and Area Mental Health Service capability to respond to incidents

Your success in this role, will be in your ability to

  • Provision of phone based support and risk monitoring for up to 4 weeks to those who present to SHED with mental health concerns and who are not subsequently eligible for tertiary mental health services.
  • Facilitate help seeking and linkage to relevant community based agencies
  • Engage client in problem- solving and safety planning
  • Provide brief therapeutic interventions

Build and maintain relationships with key community based services:

  • Headspace Sunshine, Werribee, Melton, Craigieburn
  • Primary Health Care Network
  • AOD agencies
  • Represent MWAMHS on the Brimbank

Your Contribution:

  • Be appropriately qualified and experienced in your discipline with significant post graduate experience
  • Extensive experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of severe mental illness and psychiatric disability
  • Experience in providing clinical supervision, and in developing others’ supervision skills
  • Demonstrated ability to support the development of clinical staff
  • Well-developed skills in writing and an ability to prepare relevant documentation
  • Capacity to undertake alcohol and other drug screening, assessment, treatment planning, brief interventions with clients who have co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
