The duties allocated to this role are specifically to support the operation of the department of Clinical Neurophysiology at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. 

 

The position primarily involves performing clinical tests on out-patients and in-patients to assess neurological function. As a part of this position you will be performing electrophysiological testing specifically, routine EEGs, prolonged EEGs (where required) and evoked potential studies.

 

The successful candidate should be familiar with how to set up EEGs and EPs, conduct high quality recordings and have some knowledge regarding basic interpretation of neurophysiological tests. You may be required to assist with nerve conduction/EMG clinics, by supporting consultant neurophysiologists with computer operation, patient management and clinical workflow.

  

This role is a Part Time, Fixed term position working 2 days per week. There is no weekend work, on-call or overtime required for this role.

 

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, majoring in Neuroscience, Psychophysiology, Biomedical  Science or similar
  • Experience in electrophysiological testing, including working with both in and out patients
  • Experience in conducting routine electroencephalograms (EEGs), prolonged EEGs, and evoked potential studies (EPs)
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to work cooperatively in a team or autonomously and independently
  • Advanced assessment skills and a demonstrated ability to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs: word, excel, access, outlook
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills.
