The Royal Melbourne Hospital is one of Victoria’s largest health care services providing a comprehensive range of acute, sub-acute, general, and specialist medical services through inpatient and community based facilities. We are also a proud part of the world renowned Melbourne Biomedical Precinct, working in collaboration to advance research for continuous improvement of clinical care.
We are looking for an experienced and innovative leader to join our Nursing Services team. This is a full time, permanent position, based at our office in Parkville.
Your Opportunity:
The Director Nursing Workforce and Professional Practice has key responsibility for:
- Operational management and leadership for the casual nursing workforce, including nurse pool and associated staff.
- Management and leadership of the Nursing Workforce and Professional Practice Unit, including fixed term project officers.
- Provides key leadership and support for the achievement of the Nursing Services, Allied Health and Residential Aged Care portfolio business plan.
- Provides key leadership and support for the achievement of short, medium and long term outcomes in relation to the MH Nursing Strategic Directions 2018 - 2020, particularly where they relate to professional and strategic nursing leadership.
- Provides leadership for nursing professional governance, including the development of robust credentialling frameworks and strengthening the professional accountability and responsibility.
- Ensure compliance with the requirements of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and other regulatory requirements. Actively support quality improvement and research initiatives, in an environment that fosters and delivers high quality person centred care outcomes based on the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.
- Provide a flexible and agile leadership response (as required/appropriate) in an Emergency response situation eg. Pandemic response.
- Support the CNIO to ensure our nursing workforce continues to build capacity in the use of our Electronic Medical Record and we strive towards becoming a digital health service.
- Support the Nursing Research Hub to enable a culture of nursing practice that incorporates evidence based practice into nursing care.
