Life With Us:

The Aged Psychiatry team provides a Monday-Friday, 8:30-5:00 service to older adults in the Mid-West / South-West metropolitan area, focusing on collaborative Recovery plans to reduce the impact of mental health issues for our consumers and carers.

An exciting opportunity exists at Aged Psychiatry Community Team to join our dynamic team in delivering high quality, consumer focused service to the community. The role is diverse, fast paced and challenging and offers a chance to work with people with various levels of acuity.

 

The Key Clinician will work collaboratively with a versatile team of clinicians, and should be able to provide a range of therapeutic interventions for older adults. 

 

The ideal applicant should be passionate about consumer care, an excellent problem solver, have sound clinical reasoning, good computer skills, attention to detail and a capacity to think on your feet.

 

Your Contribution:

  • Approved degree in Social Work ensuring eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers
  • A minimum of two years post-graduate experience as a social worker
  • Previous experience in a clinical mental health or aged care setting or both
  • Highly developed mental health assessment skills
  • Well-developed knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health Act 2014 and other relevant legislation, policies, charters and strategic directions of Public Mental Health Services
  • Working knowledge of Recovery models as well as aged psychiatry and therapeutic approaches
  • A demonstrated capacity to work well independently as well as in a team
  • Sound working knowledge and understanding of ethnic and culturally sensitive issues and practice
  • Knowledge and experience of community liaison and the development of community networks
