Royal Melbourne Hospital Mental Health Services (RMH MHS)

Homeless Outreach Mental Health and Housing Service (HOMHS):

  • The HOMHS model is a consortium of three services including: RMH MHS, Cohealth and Launch housing, allowing for a greater sharing of knowledge and resources to support consumers more efficiently and effectively.
  • Is a caring, cohesive and dynamic multi-disciplinary and multi-agency team that values the contributions of all of our team members in the recovery of our consumers with complex mental health presentations
  • We are a passionate group of people who work under a trauma informed, strength based, recovery focused model holding the client at the centre of our practice. 
  • Monthly reflective practice sessions 
  • We are based in a central location near the Queen Victoria Market and provide an assertive community treatment model of care to our consumers who are based in Melbourne’s CBD and surrounds.

Your new role:

  • You will manage a small caseload of consumers
  • We have good processes and supports in place to help you organise your day
  • You will be supported by a team leader, manager and clinical supervisor
  • You will part of a committed, enthusiastic and professional team that strives for the best outcomes for its consumers
  • You will be actively involved in a service in the heart of Melbourne

 About you:

  • Interested in working with homeless consumers directly in the community.
  • You possess formal qualifications and registration as an RPN
  • You must have 5 years of experience in the field of psychiatry
  • You are committed to developing your practice as a professional in clinical mental health
  • You can function effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and enjoy working autonomously
  • You are confident in the provision of support and treatment for people experiencing drug and alcohol related issues and their families.
  • Excellent organisation, verbal communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in computer software use and information technology on the Microsoft Windows platform and ability to learn new programs and navigate databases.

All appointments are made subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Record Check and a Working with Children Check (WWCC only for NWMH advertisements). Successful applicants will be required to provide evidence of an immunisation assessment and COVID-19 Vaccination prior to commencement.

Selection Criteria Essential: Registered Psychiatric Nurse: - Registration as a registered nurse under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act (2009) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. - Bachelor Degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or equivalent, or, Bachelor Degree in Nursing plus
Essential: At least 5 years’ experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of severe mental illness and psychiatric disability
