Lead Consumer Peer Support Worker

  • Searching for a Lead Consumer Peer Support Worker to join the Moreland Community Team
  • Fixed Term Part Time position
  • Based in North West Area Mental Health Service, Coburg

Your new team

  • The Moreland Community Team is a large, supportive and dynamic team made up of staff that are truly passionate and motivated in supporting consumers and their families/carers
  • We provide a comprehensive range of specialist mental health services to people who reside in the local government areas of Moreland and Hume
  • Our team has a long-standing reputation for being collegial, supportive and placing value in the individual skills, experience and personal attributes that each member of our team brings
  • We are currently building our consumer and carer peer workforce for some new peer led projects

Your success in this role, will be in your ability to

  • Supervise, mentor and orientate other Consumer Peer Support Workers
  • Support the development of Peer Led initiatives
  • Provision of peer support and information to mental health consumers linked to our community teams
  • Be part of an exciting new afterhours peer led service  - 5 Ways Cafe
  • Contributing your understanding of recovery and your experience of recovery from mental illness with consumers attending the 5 Ways café and our service during hours

Your Contribution

  • You have been / or are a first-hand user of mental health services
  • You have experience as Consumer Peer Support Worker
  • A desire to lead and support others
  • Ability to contribute of your unique range of personal skills and knowledge to the consumer group at the 5 Ways cafe, during groups and activities/appointments held during usual operating hours;
  • Having a desire to connect, nurture and support the journey of other consumers
  • Formal qualifications with relevance to Consumer Peer Work are desirable but not essential
