The Connecting Care Program and Parkville Electronic Medical Record (EMR) 

The Connecting Care EMR Program is a digital partnership between Melbourne Health (MH), The Royal Women’s Hospital (RWH), Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (Peter Mac) and the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) to transform patient care and research in the Parkville precinct.

 

Connecting Care will expand the cutting-edge RCH Epic EMR to operate across the four health services, creating one powerful shared clinical and research system and setting a new benchmark for EMR technology in Australia.

 

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated individual to join our EMR team. This is a Full Time Fixed Term position, working 80 hours per fortnight, based at Parkville.

 

Your Opportunity:

The Connecting Care EMR team is looking for a hands-on, active and highly experienced EMR Help Desk Manager to oversee and lead the growing EMR Help Desk at RCH and MH. You will work with the RCH Director and Health Service Chief Information Officers (CIOs) to lead the management of the current and expanding EMR Help Desk Team growing to cover the Parkville Precinct Health Services. You will provide strong leadership and direction to all members of the EMR Help Desk Team, leading by example by gaining an in-depth understanding of all facets of the needs of the Parkville Precinct EMR Program.


You will have experience in the management of ICT Help Desk Teams, ideally in the healthcare environment, and the proven ability to manage project resources, budgets and deliver high quality customer focused outcomes.


You will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating the EMR Help Desk team who will be supporting the Parkville Precinct EMR. This includes accountability for; infrastructure, communications, databases, end-user devices, medical device integration, third party system integration, data migration, security, access and system support activities. You will work with the health service ICT managers and technical teams to coordinate local technical EMR activities.
  • The overall development and management of EMR Help Desk documentation and support documentation for the health services. You will manage all business as usual tasks including risks, issues and scope within the governance structure ensuring appropriate reporting, escalation and approvals.
  • You will be accountable for the EMR Help Desk budget, procurement and management of all vendors that interact with the EMR, and management of the EMR Help Desk staff. This will require you to establish a close working relationship with the vendor. You will be responsible for balancing the change schedule, health service demands, budget and resources across multiple health services to ensure optimal outcomes and timelines are achieved.

Qualifications and Experience: 

This is a senior leadership position and the successful applicant is likely to have 5+ years of experience in an IT Management role.

  • Tertiary degree and/or professional qualification in Management, Program/Project Management, Health Management, Information Technology Management or related fields is required;
  • Project Management certification such as Prince 2 or PMP is desirable;
  • Experience managing eHealth / health IT / EMR projects will be highly regarded.
