5 North is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join our team to work within the nursing services value of providing safe and reliable care via the person centred care bundle.

 

5 North is a gastroenterology / hepatology and acute geriatric orthopaedic unit.  We care for patients with acute gastrointestinal diseases, liver failure, inflammatory bowel diseases and are part of the state-wide home TPN service as well as caring for patients over the age of 65 with fractures to the femur.  

 

The person centred care bundle is the core of the nursing care that we deliver on the ward and is based on 5 principals:

 

1)      thorough and ongoing nursing assessment

2)      engaging patients in clinical handover at the bedside

3)      patient safety rounding

4)      patient whiteboards

5)      Safety huddles. 

 

The successful candidate should understand how these 5 principles work together to deliver high quality care to every patient, every time.

 

All applicants are expected to participate in a rotational shift work across all shifts and days. 

 

5 North is committed to ongoing staff development and the appropriate candidates may avail of further training for leadership roles and other opportunities within in the department.  Ongoing clinical education support is available from our clinical nurse educator and the leadership team.  5 north believes in the development of student nurses and graduate nurses and participates in both programs.

 

Relevant applicants’ references must include NUM or equivalent level of referee.  Peer references are not appropriate.

 

The ward is strongly supported by a committed allied health team and a group of clinical nurse consultants who assist the ward with providing high quality care to our patients.  Our team works together to provide an inclusive environment not only for patients but for staff as well.
