Your new team

  • Provides expert multidisciplinary care to consumers from across Victoria
  • The Neuropsychiatry service is a national assessment service whilst the Eating Disorders service has a catchment that includes the Western Metropolitan area as well as the Western half of regional Victoria.
  • The Neuropsychiatry and Eating Disorders Units have 8 in-patient beds in addition to outpatient service
  • Staff are caring, cohesive and a dynamic multi-disciplinary team which value the specific contributions of all clinical staff. 

Your success in this role, will be in your ability to  

  • Deliver holistic, recovery focussed care to consumers, carers, and families
  • Deliver high standards of consumer care, which is not limited to mental health and will holistically include the consumers spiritual, cultural and physical health needs
  • Demonstrate and contribute to medication safety, including safe medication administration
  • Advocate for consumers and drive a high standards of care
  • Preceptorship and mentoring of undergraduate, graduate, and post graduate nurses
  • Co-ordinate the treatment and care of consumers on a shift-by-shift basis, and ensure care is delivered in accordance with relevant professional, area mental health service, and Melbourne Health values.

Your Contribution

  • Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency - Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA)
  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to ensuring patients understand and maintain the best possible physical health
  • Present an understanding of the most effective delivery of Evidence-Based Practice
  • Sound knowledge of, and demonstrated skills in, risk assessment, mental state assessment, and person-centred care planning
  • Capacity to deliver acute mental health nursing care from a Strengths-Based, Recovery-Focused framework

Selection Criteria Desirable: Registration as a registered nurse under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act (2009) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
Essential: Degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or equivalent, or, Bachelor Degree in Nursing plus a Postgraduate qualification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing.
Desirable: Demonstrated experience in eating disorders Demonstrated experience in neuropsychiatry
