An exciting opportunity exists at The Royal Melbourne Hospital for an innovative and enthusiastic individual to join our Surgery, Perioperative, Trauma and Surgical Oncology Services team in the role of Nurse Unit Manager, 3 South.

Your Opportunity:

3 South is a busy surgical ward and provides a high quality care predominately for Emergency General Surgery.

We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse to work as a Nurse Unit Manager (NUM). This position comes with the expectation of clinical expertise. You will be an effective leader and manager of staff and resources and will actively participate and assist in the development and implementation of key strategic programs such as the accreditation process and quality improvement.


  • Responsible for facilitating the development of clinical and administration skills in all staff.
  • Participate and assist in the development and implementation of key strategic programs such as the accreditation process and quality improvement


About You:

  • Ability to mentor and support to staff as required
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation policies and human resource procedures
  • Well-developed computer and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
