The Royal Melbourne is one of Victoria’s largest hospitals providing a comprehensive range of health services including acute, sub-acute, general, and specialist medical services throughout inpatient and community based facilities. We are looking for passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Pathology Collection Team. This is a Part Time Fixed Term position, working 68 hours per fortnight, based at The Royal Melbourne Hospital.

 

Your Opportunity:

 

The position available is for a Pathology Collector to work in the busy and fast paced pathology collection service of Melbourne Health. This position is to provide blood collection services primarily on the wards of The Royal Melbourne Hospital which caters for an adult population. The position involves working every Saturday and Sunday morning from 07.30am till 11.30am.

  • Transport specimens within the campus to appropriate courier, despatch or sample reception area, as required.
  • Manage risk and actively work toward implementing risk reduction strategies.
  • Demonstrate professional care with respect to patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • At all times adhere to Health and Safety protocols for the patients and you

About You:  

  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • A proven ability to prioritise workloads
  • Experience in venepuncture and pathology collection
  • Minimum certificate 3 or 4 in blood collection
