Senior Family Work Clinician (HYPE Stream),

Orygen Youth Health

  • Multidisciplinary role – Occupational Therapist Grade 3, Social Worker Grade 3, Psychologist Grade 3 and Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 4
  • Fixed Term Part-Time (0.6 EFT), Ongoing
  • Based in Parkville and satellite services at Glenroy and Craigieburn

Orygen Youth Health (OYH), a program of The Royal Melbourne Hospital's NorthWestern Mental Health Service, provides specialist mental health services for young people aged 15 to 24 and focuses on providing early intervention to young people with severe and complex mental illness.

 

The Helping Young People Early (HYPE) stream provides treatment to young people who are experiencing moderate to severe mood disorders. Many of these young people also experience co-occurring mental health problems.

 

Your new role

  • Provide specialist family support and build capacity for clinicians to work with families and clients of the HYPE Stream
  • Enhance the capacity of the HYPE program to engage families through; providing training and doing direct clinical work alongside clinicians to support the development of their skills.
  •  Provide direct clinical interventions to families, and provide support and leadership to other clinicians regarding working with families of clients.
  • Be responsible for the provision of clinical leadership, training and supervision of a multidisciplinary team in the HYPE Clinical Stream

About you

  • Qualifications in a relevant area of practice
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in provision of mental health treatment, including with young people.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with young people & families.
  • Ability to work independently and as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of the rationale and evidence for early intervention in mental illness.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
