Nurse Unit Manager - Intensive Care


  • Permanent full-time position - Parkville location
  • Lead our amazing nursing and support team and make a meaningful difference across the Parkville Precinct and wider community in a rewarding role

The Royal Melbourne Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a 42-bed (38 ICU Equivalent) mixed medical-surgical-trauma adult ICU catering for all patients who require ICU-level care across the Parkville precinct (Royal Melbourne Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre & Royal Women’s Hospital). With approx. 3000 admissions per year the unit is supported by a highly skilled Nursing team alongside Specialist Intensivists and a large Allied Health team. 


Your new role:

  • Work in partnership with the Director of Intensive Care and the Clinical Nurse Managers (CNMs) to manage the day-to-day operations of the ICU.
  • Champion continuous improvement to drive quality, safety, timely access to care, as well as staff and consumer experience.
  • Lead and develop a highly skilled nursing workforce.
  • Contribute to the achievement of organisational and local strategic, financial, and operational goals.

  • You have significant experience as a nursing leader in a critical care environment.
  • You have acute hospital experience with a collaborative working style.
  • You have a passion for learning and developing both as an individual and as part of a team.
  • You have excellent communication skills and an ability to connect with colleagues and consumers.
