Our critical care specialty departments at the Royal Melbourne Hospital are currently seeking highly motivated Registered Nurses to join our teams. We are offering supported Registered nurse Introduction to Speciality Education (RISE) programs in our critical care areas.

RISE Program - Emergency Department
The Royal Melbourne Hospital Emergency Department is a busy and unique workplace whose team provides a high level of acute care in a multi-disciplinary setting. We are a Level 1 Adult Trauma and tertiary referral centre, with over 85,000 presentations annually. The service provides assessment, investigations and treatment of all patients who present and is part of a designated Major Trauma Service and has a high acuity case mix with an emphasis on Trauma, Infectious Disease, Chest Pain Evaluation, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry.
As a highly sought after program, we have an ongoing commitment to internal professional development and as such we do not have any external positions available to the January 2023 intake. Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
The RMH Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a 42 bed unit, a level 1 trauma service and one of the biggest Intensive Care Units in Australia, providing care for complex critically unwell patients including cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, major trauma, complex respiratory management, sepsis, oncology, renal failure, infectious diseases, multiple organ dysfunction.
RISE Program - ICU
The ICU RISE Program is a twelve (12) month program consisting of six-month structured education, followed by 6 months of supported clinical consolidation. During this time, participants will learn the knowledge and skill required to care be for some of the most acutely unwell patients at the Royal Melbourne Hospital whilst working in our Intensive Care Unit (6B). This 12 month training program incorporates interactive online learning, tutorials, and in-house clinical and academic assessments.
A minimum of 1 year of acute nursing experience is required in order to be eligible for this program.
Bridging to ICU Program
The Bridging to ICU course is open to Registered Nurses who hold a 'critical care' post graduate qualification. This course is geared towards applicants who have a critical care higher qualification who would like to work within the RMH ICU department.
This 12 month training program incorporates interactive online learning, tutorials, and in-house clinical and academic assessments.
Participants will be supported clinically within the workplace. The Program length is twelve (12) months.
ICU Refresher Program
The Refresher to ICU course is open to Registered Nurses who hold an Intensive Care post graduate qualification. This course is geared towards applicants who have previously completed a post graduate qualification within ICU, but have not worked within the clinical setting in recent years.
This 12 month training program incorporates interactive online learning, tutorials and workshops, and in-house clinical and academic assessments. Program length is twelve (12) months. Applicants must have worked within a critical care unit/ward within the past 5 years

- Contact details of two (2) senior clinical referees (i.e. NUM, ANUM, CNE)
