RMH provides specialist and general acute and subacute health services across two campuses. Primarily serving the north western communities of Melbourne, the RMH also provides statewide and specialist services to rural and regional Victorians.
RMH is part of Melbourne Health, which includes Northwestern Mental Health and the Victorian Infectious Diseases Reference Laboratory.

The Royal Melbourne Hospital offers six Critical Care positions primarily suited to PGY3+ doctors considering a career in Anaesthesia and who would like to gain further experience before applying to one of the specialty training programs.

Critical Care Hospital Medical Officer's will rotate through four (4) 13 week rotations comprising of Anaesthesia, Intensive Care Unit or another high dependency unit, Emergency Medicine and a general relieving term.
