The Outer Community Team at MidWest Area Mental Health Service are a welcoming and supportive diverse group of multi-disciplinary clinicians who value the specific contributions of nurses to the treatment of our consumers with often challenging and complex mental health presentations.  We will provide the opportunity to work in an integrated community model of care that offers you flexible work hours over 7 days a week with a combination of acute / brief interventions and ongoing / longer term clinical care depending on your individual areas of experience and interest.

 

A Job to be Proud of:

  • Provide recovery oriented assessment and interventions in collaboration with consumers/ carers/families.
  • Assist in the provision of primary, secondary and tertiary consultation services, community development and education, liaison and linkage to other agencies that also provide support to people with mental illnesses as required.
  • Ensure all client centred activities are accurately documented in the appropriate format within the clinical patient file in a timely manner.
  • Work in collaboration with your multi-disciplinary mental health team.

Your Commitment:

  • Hold a relevant clinical qualification, and display demonstrated skills in the principles and practice of working with people presenting mental health issues.
  • Present a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of severe mental illness and psychiatric disability
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with consumers, families/carers, colleagues and other service providers
  • Knowledge of relevant evidence based treatment models and interventions for high and low prevalence psychiatric illnesses 
  • Capacity to undertake alcohol and other drug screening, assessment, treatment planning, brief interventions with clients who have co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
