The Connecting Care Program and Parkville Electronic Medical Record (EMR) 

The Connecting Care EMR Program is a digital partnership between Melbourne Health (MH), The Royal Women’s Hospital (RWH), Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (Peter Mac) and the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) to transform patient care and research in the Parkville precinct.

 

Connecting Care will expand the cutting-edge RCH Epic EMR to operate across the four health services, creating one powerful shared clinical and research system and setting a new benchmark for EMR technology in Australia.

 

The Opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on, active and highly experienced Project Manager to plan and manage the deployment of hardware and technology for the Parkville Connecting Care Program. 

 

As the Connecting Care EMR Project Manager - Technology & Hardware you will be responsible for the identification, acquisition and implementation of hardware and technology, including all point of care devices, across multiple health services and satellite locations.

 

Point of care devices will include but not be limited to; workstations, printers, monitors including touch, label printers, tablets, smartphones, barcode scanners, scanners, fixtures and fittings, smartcards, smartcard readers, protective covers, chargers, carts and trolleys, and batteries. 

 

With the assistance of the Hardware & Technology Project Officer you will be highly visible in the planning and management of the deployment and;

  • Identify the type, number and deployment locations of point of care devices
  • Procure required devices
  • Co-ordinate the establishment of a Proof of Concept environment and support the establishment of an end user training environment
  • Oversee the management of the deployment, testing and asset management of the technology and hardware deployed
  • Plan for the device rollout across multiple locations and users
  • Manage and/or facilitate any capital works required to support the rollout
  • Manage the deployment of the devices in situ, asset management and testing of the devices
  • Go live assistance including documentation and handover to support

Requirements for the role:

This is a leadership position and the successful applicant is likely to have some years of experience in an IT Project Management or IT Management role including; 

  • Tertiary degree and/or professional qualification in Management, Program/Project Management, Health Management, Information Technology Management or related fields is desirable;
  • Management of a large-scale deployment of technology and hardware, including point of care devices, in a project environment is desirable.
  • Project Management certification such as Prince 2 or PMP is desirable;
  • Experience working in health IT projects or managing and deploying point of care devices for an EMR project is desirable.
