Team Leader

               Inner West Area Mental Health Service - Royal Melbourne Hospital

  • Team Leader role – Homeless Team
  • Coordination /  allocation of referrals, new patient assessments, intake and rostered activities
  • Full Time – ongoing role

Based at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Community Team 1 holds the homeless portfolio for IWAMHS. The team works with consumers living in the CBD and inner city suburbs of the Inner West area of Melbourne. Clinicians also work closely with support staff at the homeless shelters offering secondary consultation, psycho-education, management plan development and formalised mental health education sessions.

 

We are seeking an experienced clinician that assists the Community Team Manager by supporting clinical staff in the provision of complex clinical care for consumers experiencing psychiatric illness/disability, and provides high level clinical expertise within the Community Team with respect to the assessment and treatment of consumers with complex mental health related needs and their family/carers.

The IWAMHS and Community Team 1 is a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team who hold the homeless person’s portfolio for IWAMHS.   

  • We aim to empower consumers to make their own choices about their treatment and recovery with an emphasis on strengthening their internal resources to move forward.
  • We work hard to create external links in the community for ongoing support.
  • We hold the Homeless portfolio which extends to and includes the Homeless Response Portfolio (MhaP-HR) which relies on strong partnerships with relevant stakeholders.

About you:

  • Possess formal qualifications and registration as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Psychologist or Social Worker.
  • You enjoy working with and supporting others.
  • Contribute to a positive culture, demonstrate partnership and collaboration within the team, across consortium agencies and other key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate extensive experience in the provision of specialist services in public mental health settings with a strong focus on local communities and inter-agency specific knowledge. 
  • Demonstrate recovery-oriented practice.
  • Be responsible for developing partnerships and collaboration between agencies and across the mental health and homelessness sector.
