Mental Health Clinician

Mental Health Forensic Interface Team – North West Area Mental Health Service

We are offering you an exciting opportunity to join a select and specialised small team that operates in the North and West of Victoria. We provide enhanced clinical mental health services to those with a mental illness and at risk of serious offending, especially through violent behaviour in the context of making threats against public office holders and/or expressing radicalism and extremism to the extent that the general public may be placed at risk.

About you:

  • Clinical mental health experience
  • Clinical mental health assessment and intervention skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Working knowledge and understanding of culturally sensitive issues and practices
  • Knowledge and experience of community liaison
  • Ability to speak a second relevant language would be well regarded
  • Must hold a current Victorian drviers licence and be willing to drive long distances

  • Undertake and participate in thorough mental health assessment
  • Undertake and participate in thorough risk assessment activities at all stages of engagement and treatment of the client cohort utilising designated risk assessment screening tools and violence risk assessment tools (HCR20)
  • Evidence-based practices that are effective for individuals with a mental illness and a grievance
  • Provision of primary, secondary and tertiary consultation services
