Postgraduate Mental Health Nurse – Post Graduate Mental Health Program 2022

  • Full Time opportunities Fixed Term available in a range of Mental Health settings
  • Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 2, Year 3 - Year 8
  • Salary range $68,754 to $87,282 per annum depending on experience (in accordance with relevant EBA)

The Mental Health Nursing Postgraduate Program is an integral part of RMH-North Western Mental Health commitment to develop our future workforce and as such, we welcome enthusiastic Registered Nurses with a passion for mental health and a desire to specialise in this exciting field to join our team to provide compassionate and responsive care to individuals in need.  The 12 month structured program provides an excellent opportunity to extend your nursing knowledge in the specialist area of mental health nursing.  As a postgraduate MHN at NWMH, you will experience diverse, well rounded clinical rotations. Rotations take place in a variety of settings, across the lifespan and include emergency mental health, community mental health, acute and long term inpatient care settings.

 

Your new role:

  • Provide high quality standards of patient care. This includes the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation for care in collaboration within multidisciplinary team.
  • Perform nursing interventions and procedures in accordance with RMH policy and procedures.
  • Recognise the Registered Psychiatric Nurse responsibilities for delegation of nursing care.
  • Contribute to the development of an effective discharge plan and provide appropriate patient education and referral to appropriate community providers.

 

About You

  • Awareness of mental health nursing practice and recovery oriented approaches to care
  • Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) in 2021
  • Able to develop skills in risk assessment, mental state assessment, and care planning
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation
  • A commitment to excellence in nursing practice and continuing professional development
  • Understand the professional, ethical, legal responsibilities of Registered Nurses
  • Understand the importance of compassionate nursing care which focuses on the best possible consumer outcomes.
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
