Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Clinician

  • Newly created AOD clinician role to provide mental health care for young people and families at YPARC, based in Parkville

Orygen Specialist Programs (OSP), a program of Melbourne Health, provides specialist mental health services for young people aged 15 to 25 and focuses on providing early intervention to young people with severe and complex mental illness.

 

Orygen delivers cutting-edge research, policy development, innovative clinical services, and evidence-based training and education for the mental health workforce to ensure that there is continuous improvement in the treatments and care provided to young people experiencing mental ill-health. 

 

Your new role:


We have some exciting new opportunities within a newly purpose-built YPARC centre. As an AOD Clinician, you will:

  • Work with YPARC team to improve screening, identification, assessment and discharge planning of patients presenting with AOD/Dual Diagnosis issues
  • Assist and support staff in the development and implementation of AOD and/or Dual Diagnosis care plans
  • Provide education and training support for staff across YPARC
  • Assist in the provision of primary, secondary and tertiary consultation services, community development and education, liaison and linkage to other agencies that also provide support to young people with mental illnesses

About you:

  • Relevant registration and qualifications
  • Experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of AOD/mental illness and psychiatric disability presentations
  • Capacity to undertake AOD screening, assessment, treatment planning, brief interventions with young people who have co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
  • Experience working with people with complex AOD, mental health and medical issues
