Your new team

 

NorthWestern Mental Health (NWMH) provides a comprehensive, integrated range of services to people with a serious mental illness in North-Western Melbourne. A multi-disciplinary workforce of 1,800 staff provides services through four Area Adult Mental Health Services.  NWMH is a clinical service of Melbourne Health and operates in partnership with Northern Health and Western Health. 


The Adult Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit (AMHRU) is a secure extended care facility serving three Area Mental Health Services within Metropolitan Melbourne. The team work collaboratively to provide intensive assessment and treatment to consumers suffering from enduring psychosis who may also be experiencing a number of other complex issues. The team are passionate about supporting complex consumers to reach their recovery goals.

 

Your success in this role, will be in your ability to

  • Provide discipline specific input to the patient care including OT assessment, intervention, and input to support discharge planning
  • Coordinate the group program, with support of the OT1
  • Provide case management to 1-2 complex clients
  • Work under the recovery model
  • Be committed to learning and professional development
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Your Contribution

  • Consolidated mental health clinical skills 
  • Discipline specific Occupational Therapy expertise including for assessment and intervention, sensory modulation, group program, and other scopes of practice.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients, families and other service providers 
  • Proven nursing skills and relevant experience in working with client’s severe psychosis 
  • Committed to the provision of a client-centred and recovery-focused care

Note: The successful applicant will be required to work rostered shifts – morning, afternoon and night shift.
