Youth Wellbeing Discipline Lead

Orygen Specialist Programs (OSP), a program of Melbourne Health, provides specialist mental health services for young people aged 15 to 25 and focuses on providing early intervention to young people with severe and complex mental illness.

 

The Orygen Youth Prevention & Recovery Care (YPARC) is a pivotal sub-acute program supporting young people transition to the community from inpatient psychiatric care, or to intervene early and prevent further deterioration that may lead to inpatient psychiatric care. YPARC will also support young people with substance-use issues.

 

Your new role:

 

The Youth Wellbeing Discipline Lead will provide leadership and management, regarding the recruiting, developing, maintaining and sustaining of the community mental health practitioner workforce within the Orygen Youth Prevention and Recovery Care (YPARC) centre.


As the Youth Wellbeing Discipline Lead, you will:

  • Lead and manage services to young people, families and/or carers through Recovery-Oriented Practice and related guidelines to ensure individually tailored services for young people and their family and carers is provided to the highest standard.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical services in understanding and managing risks for young people
  • Lead the community mental health workforce team through engaging staff, setting clear direction and performance expectations
  • Foster workforce development through supervision, engagement, training and day to day service operations

About you:

  • Relevant registration and qualifications (see attached position description)
  • Experience in the management of multidisciplinary teams and preferably in a youth mental health service
  • Knowledge of substance use and other health and social problems faced by young people and the indicated evidence-based treatment/support options
  • The ability to utilise clinical judgment and raise clinical and operational issues of concern and implement risk mitigation strategies as required
