Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social and Emotional Wellbeing Clinician

  • Aboriginal Identified Role - Full time, rotating roster
  • Exciting position based in the Inner West metro and central Melbourne area

This is a multidisciplinary role and is open to Grade 3 Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Grade 2 Occupational Therapists, Social Workers and Psychologists.

Community Team 1 (CT1) are based in close proximity to the Royal Melbourne Hospital and provide care to consumers living in the CBD and residents of the Inner Melbourne catchment, additionally they hold the homeless portfolio for IWAMHS.  CT1 provides an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) model of care characterized by lower caseloads, community based treatment (outreach) and a team based approach with high intensity of care.  This often includes medication management, psychosocial support assessment and referral (housing, financial, vocation), counselling and crisis admissions/assessments.

 

Your new role:

  • Positively promote the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander concepts of social and emotional wellbeing and mental health
  • Develop systems to access Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander resources for clients, families and staff; collaborate with IWAMHS staff and structures to ensure maintenance of resources
  • Identify opportunities, issues and risks; and determine strategies to address these, in line with the Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System

About you:

  • You must have 2 years’ experience in clinical mental health, health care or community services.
  • You identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and;
  • Possess formal qualifications and registration as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Clinical Psychologist or Social Worker.
  • Apply a practical understanding of the Social and Emotional Wellbeing model of care.
  • Apply your clinical knowledge and expertise to the assessment and delivery of evidence based interventions, with a cultural lens, to consumers with complex mental health related needs
