Senior Occupational Therapist

 

  • Northern Area Mental Health Service (NAMHS) is looking for an Occupational Therapists Grade 3
  • Full Time Ongoing leadership opportunity with monthly ADOs
  • Based in our NAMHS Noogal Clinic in Mill Park

 

The Northern Area Mental Health Service (NAMHS), believes in the effective delivery of high quality psychiatric services. We are an established team that is connected, collaborative and enthusiastic to be at the forefront of progressive and remarkable initiatives.

 

We are seeking occupational therapists who are keen to provide evidenced based occupational therapy assessments and interventions including functional assessments, action over inertia, sensory modulation, linking to meaningful and purposeful occupation in the person’s own community.

 

About your new role:


Occupational Therapists within NAMHS are well supported professionally with access to regular supervision, professional development and communities of practice.

  • Screen and prioritise Occupational Therapy (OT) referrals, conduct OT assessments and Interventions with consumers from the Long Term Intervention and Targeted brief Intervention services
  • Coordinate and capacity build multidisciplinary staff to support the utilisation of sensory assessments and interventions, promote safe consumer driving, connect consumers to meaningful occupation and activities
  • Work as a key clinician with a reduced caseload of complex consumers and their families/carers to promote mental health and wellbeing
  • Provide professional supervision and support to occupational therapy staff and students

About You:

  • Comprehensive experience in clinical practice within the mental health field.
  • Expertise in developing and delivering interventions with consumers who have experienced serious mental illness and have complex mental health needs
  • Interest and expertise in sensory modulation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong clinical leadership skills and ability to contribute effectively to a multidisciplinary team
  • Genuine commitment to embedding recovery principles and trauma informed care into practice
