Your new team
NorthWestern Mental Health is one of the largest providers of Mental Health Services in Victoria. Our multi-disciplinary workforce of skilled and dynamic clinicians and consumer/carer advisors, provide a recovery-oriented approach to care.
MH-FIT provide services in the North & West of Victoria. Referrals are received from the Victorian Fixated Threat Assessment Centre (VFTAC) of clients with a likely or diagnosed mental illness and identified as having developed fixated grievance fuelled threats towards individuals and /or political and/or religious causes and pose a significant threat.
We are:
- A specialist clinical enhancement treatment & support team for active clients of VFTAC
- We work collaboratively with other area mental health services or service providers
- Provide mental health and forensic assessment, including violence risk assessment
- Provide assertive individualised treatment and care
- Host case planning meetings with multiple services
- Provide coordination of care
We provide direct clinical and support services to clients referred through the Victorian Fixated Threat Assessment Centre and support other AMHSs to manage these clients when appropriate.
Your new role:
A multidisciplinary role for a Forensic Psychologist/ Clinical Psychologist / Social Worker / Occupational Therapist or Registered Psychiatric Nurse.
- Undertake assessment, treatment and support of clients
- Utilise designated risk assessment screening tools
- Maximise the use of specific intervention skills as appropriate and as required by consumers, their family/carers and the service
- Provide primary, secondary and tertiary consultation services
- Work collaboratively with other NWMH services, external agencies and service providers
About you:
- Academic Qualifications in your relevant discipline
- Highly developed mental health assessment skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Working knowledge and understanding of culturally sensitive issues and practices
- Excellent knowledge and experience of community liaison
- Ability to speak a second relevant language would be well regarded
- Relevant experience in a forensic mental health setting would be well regarded
