2024 Gastroenterology Fellow – Coeliac Disease

12 Month Part Time – Fixed Term

Unit Description:

The Gastroenterology department at RMH encompasses a multidisciplinary team providing expert clinical care to patients in all areas of gastroenterology. This includes but is not limited to inflammatory bowel diseases, gastrointestinal malignancies, hepatology, and endoscopy services. The team works closely with nutritional services, and colorectal surgical services.

Inpatient services are delivered for patients admitted under a gastroenterology bed card, as well as provision of a consultative service to other inpatient teams. The department manages an on call haematemesis and melena service, multiple outpatient clinics and endoscopy lists at several sites.

The Gastroenterology department is active in clinical research, with studies ranging from quality audits to investigator-initiated studies and large multisite externally funded clinical trials. 

The department is accredited to train gastroenterology advanced trainees for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and supports the learning and development of doctors in training (interns, residents, registrars and fellows) who are gaining experience in Gastroenterology. The department also trains and supports nurse practitioners, and staff with expertise as nurse endoscopists.

 

About the role:

Applications are invited for the position of Coeliac Disease Research Fellow 26 hr per fortnight (Senior Registrar) for up to 12 months.

The successful applicant with be a medical practitioner with experience in Gastroenterology and an interest in Coeliac disease.

 

About You:

  • Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (for international Medical Graduates)
  • MBBS or equivalent tertiary qualifications
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Well-developed communication and presentation skills.
