Customer Service Clerk

About us


The neurosurgery specialist outpatient clinic department provides:

  • Over 13,000 attendances per year in a large range of general and subspecialist neurosurgery clinics
  • The outpatient clinic forms a critical part of the care delivery system within the Neurosurgery Department.
  • Health care delivery via 3 modalities, Tele Health, Telephone and face to face appointments.
  • 3 clinical locations for appointments, with both nursing and administrative support for clinicians and patients, with an administration office embedded within the Neurosurgery Department.

Your new role


The customer service clerk is a key member of the neurosurgery department team and is responsible for the end to end administrative management of the patient's outpatient episode of care, including but not limited to

  • Referral management
  • Appointment scheduling
  • Waitlist management and auditing
  • Phone, online and health hub enquiries
  • Liaison with neurosurgical clinical and clerical staff for all aspects of outpatient clinic scheduling
  • Proactively managing and checking outpatient schedules through internal processes

You will be responsible for

  • The provision of accurate data entry
  • The adherence to the Specialist Clinics Access Policy 2015
  • Providing administration support for patients and clinicians
  • Providing a high level of customer service including management of telephone enquiries from patients related to referrals and appointments

  • Demonstrated provision of highly developed customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, including professional telephone manner
  • Demonstrated computer skills, including accurate keyboard skills
  • Professional presentation and demeanour
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to prioritise and problem solve
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment
  • Able to work in a busy environment and under pressure at times
  • High motivation and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work within a diverse cultural environment
  • Ability to be agile and flexible, switching priorities as required
